Resources & Mobility Programs

D.A.R.S. Vision is:" A Texas where people with disabilities and families with children who have developmental delays enjoy the same opportunities as other Texans to pursue independent and productive lives."

D.A.R.S. Mission is: "To work in partnership with Texans with disabilities and families with children who have developmental delays to improve the quality of their lives and to enable their full participation in society."

About the agency

The Department of Aging and Disability Services (DADS) was created to administer long-term services and supports for people who are aging and who have cognitive and physical disabilities. DADS also licenses and regulates providers of these services, and administers the state’s guardianship program. DADS began formal operations on Sept. 1, 2004.

DADS organizational structure

DADS is under the leadership of a commissioner who is appointed by the executive commissioner for the Health and Human Services Commission with the approval of the governor.

P.V.A.'s Mission

The Paralyzed Veterans of America, a congressionally chartered veterans service organization founded in 1946, has developed a unique expertise on a wide variety of issues involving the special needs of our members—veterans of the armed forces who have experienced spinal cord injury or dysfunction.

Paralyzed Veterans will use that expertise to be the leading advocate for:

• Quality health care for our members,
• Research and education addressing spinal cord injury and dysfunction,
• Benefits available as a result of our members’ military service,
• Civil rights and opportunities which maximize the independence of our members.

We are the only Congressionally chartered veterans organization dedicated solely to serving the needs of SCI/SCD veterans.

A.L.S.A.'s Mission

To lead the fight to cure and treat ALS through
global, cutting-edge research, and to empower
people with Lou Gehrig’s Disease and their
families to live fuller lives by providing them
with compassionate care and support.

A.L.S.A.'s Vision

In the quest to create a world without ALS, our vision is to care for and support all people living with Lou Gehrig’s Disease as we leave no stone unturned in our relentless search for a cure.

The National MS Society is a collective of passionate individuals who want to do something about MS now—to move together toward a world free of multiple sclerosis. MS stops people from moving. We exist to make sure it doesn't.

We help each person address the challenges of living with MS through our 50-state network of chapters. The Society helps people affected by MS by funding cutting-edge research, driving change through advocacy, facilitating professional education, and providing programs and services that help people with MS and their families move their lives forward.

Founded in 1948, the National Spinal Cord Injury Association is the nation's oldest and largest civilian organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for hundreds of thousands of Americans living with the results of spinal cord injury and disease (SCI/D) and their families. This number grows by thirty newly-injured people each day.

At NSCIA, we educate and empower survivors of spinal cord injury and disease to achieve and maintain the highest levels of independence, health and personal fulfillment. We fulfill this mission by providing an innovative Peer Support Network and by raising awareness about spinal cord injury and disease through education. Our education programs are developed to address information and issues important to our constituency, policy makers, the general public, and the media, and including injury prevention, improvements in medical, rehabilitative and supportive services, research and public policy formulation.

This a book you need to read if you're on medicare or have health insurance questions. The Author Toni King has spent the last 20 years as a top sales leader in the Medicare and Health Insurance fields. The education Toni has received from her walks with clients has led her to follow her passion of educating and helping those who cannot comprehend all the legal mumbo jumbo, thrown at Mr. & Mrs. America, in the forms of a Health Insurance policy and Medicare information that we are constantly bombarded with by the mail, radio and television.  Click here to view Toni's web site.
